Some call them wetbacks. Some call them the brown tide. Some call them illegals. The official government term for the moment is undocumented aliens. Most just think of themselves as people without papers. Exactly how many people are living in this country without papers is difficult to guess. On official government estimates range from eight to 10 million in fiscal year 1976, more than 866,000 who were apprehended for not having proper documentation in 1977. That figure rose to over 1 million it was quite deliberate. Walsh Border Patrol agent in charge of the Tucson sector believes the agency is about 1/3 effective in protecting our border with Mexico. That means that as many as 3 million persons could have crossed without papers last year, bringing those figures home to Tucson in 1977 34,648 persons were apprehended along our border with Mexico did over 100,000 Make it probably you want to stay here in the United States to go to school here. Great Are you in three months and undocumented worker can earn more here than he would earn in a year in Mexico. Many comes simply for that reason to earn money and to go home. But many others decide to make America their home to become part of a new society. President Carter seems to sense both sides of the problem said undocumented aliens have breached our immigration laws. But on the other hand, many of them have been law abiding residents who are looking for a new life and are productive members of their communities. What's your favorite TV show? Drugs I guess it's Three's Company. Stop all right. There's a still larger group of people the problem touches are those of Mexican descent. Born here legally living here. I supply him with the with the stones, the pencils to draw with the paper that we print with, I advise them on what kind of strengths they need to draw in a particular area to get us certain kinds of color range out of it. The artist essentially does the drawing. And then the rest is up to us. The artist normally will decide how many colors he wants, what kinds of colors he wants. And during color proofing, which is a point that all the all the drawings have been completed. And then we start putting things together and, and the artist wants a particular shade of orange or particular shade of green or red or whatever, then we mix up that color. And we'll try it. And we'll just keep on trying different color combinations and sandwiching all these different levels of color together to see what happens. And that's called Color proofing. When you're finally settling out whether whether or not you know, this is the right color, whether it needs to be more transparent or more will pay or whatever needs to be done to a color, then that's a time that's taken care of. Once the artist is happy with the final proof, we caught he signs that as an approval to print or a botnet to re botnet to re meet literally means are good to take. And that's a definitive proof for the addition. The ink formulas and all that are written down so that they can be reproduced, you know, to almost exactly the same 10 that the artist has picked out. And then the addition is run from there. And that's when the printers take entire charge over the whole thing. And once it finished, the print has finished the addition is then the artists, it's curated and the artists can come back down and sign a number, each impression. And basically, that's, that's what we do. We're just we're technicians and we're printers and advisors.
