Nancy sings says that iron deficient diets during pregnancy caused the fetus to rely on stores of iron in the mother and the fetus then competes for the iron with a possibly anemic mother often stunting the child's growth. Singh says that pregnancies and poorly nourished teenagers in particular endanger the fetus because younger women need more iron than older women. She says that if iron intake is not supplemented during pregnancy, the mother risks a difficult delivery. Doctors recommend that women add one and a quarter milligrams of iron to their diet daily during pregnancy to offset the fetus need seeing says that two good sources of iron supplement our liver and beef or other animal proteins because they are absorbed and stored in the woman's body.
