I remember I was a cub reporter at the star and we used to take the games coming in and you played a game at Bisbee. And I remember the call came in and said we lost the game at Bisbee. But Alex pitched a no hitter. And I struck out I don't know 1617 men, but during the course of the holiday strikeouts. At one time I struck one fell out and the catcher dropped the third strike and they have guy run the first he stole second honor on a passed ball. So it was on pass balls that he lost again and that he couldn't hold me and that's how they got the they got there. Just just that's the way he talked all the time to everybody. So I said well, that's fine with me. My gosh, that's where Elmer Vallo had to go get it. Well, Dale, Dale Mitchell was running and he ran to first then he went to second. And then he got well, he wanted to know what had happened to me. So he stopped he stopped at second base. And then then that's as far as he got. But I told him to hit me I dropped down and never knocked me out. Because the first thing I was laying on the ground, I read up and see if I had any blood on me. And I didn't see no blood. So I was all I figured it was just a brute gentle. But they made me lay there and they took me down to the hospital. And it ended up that had nothing wrong with me that didn't even get a headache out of it. But I sure got a beautiful shine. Um, I closed up. And the funny part of it was, well, I mean, of course it wasn't, wasn't funny, but we went back to the hotel. I stayed in the hospital. So Friday night and Saturday. And they released me Sunday. We had a doubleheader on Sunday there and so I went Sunday morning, they released me, I went back to the hotel, and Connie Mack was sitting in a chair in the hotel lobby there. And he looked up and he saw me and he and he motioned for me to come over. And he says, young man, I thought you was dead. And in the same breath, he says, Can you pitch Tuesday night against St. Louis. And said, you know, I did? I said no, I don't think I say go well enough for Tuesday as maybe Wednesday or Thursday and I didn't get the Thursday Ciara.
