So Father was over here for a while, and he has to be that age because my mother was born in 1898. So and she must have been 1819 20 So she came around 1918 or something like that. So in the fall, there must have been he must have been 40 When went to Japan, so he must been here before that I figured it but I never asked him. I don't know why. But some talk to other people. They say yeah, I never, I don't know never never asked why he came out here, you know, but he says, I knew I asked him everything. And it was I think there was only about four agents in the whole school Grammar School and I never felt out of place I just you know, talk with all the Caucasians and everything and and when school that place or something then I used to participate in it but then we moved to the Walnut Grove and I was in I think third grade I think and then my father took me to the school and I looked at this is this is what your school he said and then he said oriental school that's the name of it. I didn't know what oriental was then so then afterward I went to school everybody had black hair and an all white there are no excellent so all agents in this room and it took me long long to find out it was cigarette at school in here about half a mile away in the nice Britain good brick building with a nice auditorium that was like school for the white person so on. And Chinese was in a town named locked with about half a mile away and those guys walked everyday to school and at the white school did a bus picking up the kids and taking them over there I guess nobody complained that those lending books Chinese skills just walked in and rain or shine they came they had a lot of them had perfect attendance to the school so but then we got along pretty good with them so once we had a fight but that's the thing. All in all, we had fun and then we went to high school it was integrated. On time we were at the gym and coach told us What's the matter with your just your click is you always stay in and go to them to just in a corner by yourself you never mix but at that time I don't have the nerve I never did have a nerve to speak up against them but after what they expect you put you in a cigarette scoop on the beginning you know show you that's where you belong, you don't belong with the lights and then all of a sudden you go to high school they expect you to mingle with them. So we just always stayed together with whom I graduated in high school. From Grammar School we stick together at grammar school we spoke and when we spoke English we have to but otherwise when you're playing or sitting together with speaking Japanese all the time, so that's why my English accent I kind of think I don't have accent but somebody else you know. Talk to me they know I'm Japanese because my accent she thought she has a good accent. She doesn't know what Hey, Mom. She'd call some girls that Japanese ladies want to talk to you. The little girl knew because I thought I didn't have no accent because I went to grammar school when I first started with no white friend Caucasian friends. When I went to oriental school, I guess all Japanese went to Japanese school after some grammar school school finished and we used to go I think one hour or something At least I think it was one hour hour and a half in the afternoons Yeah After School finished so we get out about three o'clock then we go but then we have a test at the Japanese school then we have the big American Dix geography out and we have the Japanese book in there anyway really studying Japanese study class you know we're laughing about that and then one day that's teacher I think it was in seventh or eighth grade I think we've teacher got caught us and it's you people don't need another language you only have to need learn English you don't need another language. Then there's Chinese boy Richard Chang I remember him stood up and said I think you're wrong teacher if if I'm got seen that ability ever the white person and I go apply for a job you think the white person gonna give a job to a Chinaman Chinese or to the white person white person gonna get it you know, if I'm one that job I have to better than the white person to get a job that's how it is so by learning another language I my head so I can get the job because if they're gonna communicate with Chinese people then be able to get a job after that. Teacher never did see anything. Discrimination there all times. How old was he? He was 13 or 14. Wow. Yeah, clever kid. Yeah. Then I came home and talk told that to my mother about it. No one did Chinese people teach that to Japanese teacher because our teacher said there's always discrimination in Japanese. So you better prepare for it you know, especially when you go work someplace and the boss is not there. Or the more you have to work more don't just because the white person don't want you to do same as we then they'll fire you before they fire the white person so you have to be always be trustworthy and work hard. Because everybody wanted farmers wanted to get that done and they want no other labor to help and that's when we were on will start getting out of depression and start eating better and buying little good stuff. went to camp and lost everything. So all the kitchen stuff we left behind so and then JCL then I don't know why didn't come and help us up and he was going to all the people lost everything you know, but he just they were busy with their own thing. They want to speak up for us and this and that. But I never did hear anything about them.
