So that they're of school age, or that they will be of school age by December 31, who have unique learning needs that make it necessary for them to be taught earlier and in a different way than most children without the same kinds of learning needs. Now that sounds like a lot of talk, I realize. But some of the children have severe articulation problems, nobody can understand them, or they're not talking at all, by the age of three, some of them have had very extreme physical problems they may have had been hydrocele phallic, in other words had a neurological condition when from birth. Some of them may have had other kinds of surgery, extensive surgery, we have one child who was born with what we call birth, congenital anomalies. She was born without an external ear, so that there are all sorts of problems if you don't have an ear. Dr. Leonard Peltier head of Orthopedic Surgery at the Health Sciences Center says if a person doesn't make a practice of staying in good condition, there's danger of pulled muscles, sprained ankles, joint stiffness or other injuries. Pelletier said most of these can be prevented or stopped from becoming more serious by proper conditioning. conditioning the body says Dr. Peltier can be done through activities during the week such as stretching exercises, or a few minutes of running in place. He says This improves flexibility and strengthens muscles providing protection against injury.
